The owners of this residence wanted to replace a small, dated, composite deck with a larger outdoor living space utilizing the appealing quality of redwood.
Their goal was to have enough area to include additional seating and a larger outdoor grilling area.
A railing was necessary due too the height of the deck, but rather than being visually confining, an artistic custom rail was designed to blend in with the existing landscape.
Needing protection from the elements, a freestanding shade structure was designed. This included a steel frame with a light colored canopy to allow light into the adjacent house. Drop screens were incorporated to add additional privacy from neighbors when desired.
Finally, to bring more color into the space, while complimenting the coral and red fabrics of the furniture, multiple containers were added.
